Come Celebrate and Come Participate in PJL’s June month of Poetry at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library.
To offer its patrons and the public in general a variety of poetry experiences, PJL has once again organized a series of activities for a cross section of the community.
Poetry at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library
Two of the main activities in which we need your support are the Poetry Workshop and the Poetry competitions.

Poetry Workshop: The program commences officially on Saturday, June 12th with a Poetry Workshop which will be facilitated than none other than St. Maarten’s very own and well known educator and Poet, Mr. Roberto Celestino Arrindell. Interested participants are urged to register for the poetry workshop by sending an email to Ms. Shirley Richardson at orders@sxmlibrary.org or call us at 542-2970.

Registration is from Monday, June 7 until Friday June 11, 2021. Space is limited so do try and register as soon as possible,Workshop time: 10:30 am – 12:30 am.

Venue: Philipsburg Jubilee Library, upstairs the A.

R Building on the Walter Nisbeth Rd.

Age group: 16 and up Poetry Competition: The poetry competition is open for primary and secondary school’s students, and interested adults in the community. All are encouraged to submit their originally made poems on time so that they can be among the winners on June 29th, 2021.

Due date: The deadline for submission in the poetry contest will be the 14th of June.

How and where to submit: Poem entries can be submitted via email to info@sxmlibrary.org or in person at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library front desk on # 3 Walter Nisbeth Road, Philipsburg (Upstairs from the Adolphus Richardson Office Supplies store on the Pond fill).

Required contact information: Submissions must contain phone number, age, email address (in the case of primary school students email of parent or guardian), and name of school (in the case of school-going children).

Closing Ceremony details: Prizes will be presented during the closing ceremony on Tuesday, June 29 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. Registration and participation is free, participants and interested persons attending the workshop and/or the Prize giving ceremony are required to be on time and adhere to the COVID-19 regulations, such as wearing mask and social distancing. Come out and support your LIBRARY, schedule these exciting and educational learning and sharing poetry experiences in your calendar and we at the Philipsburg Library along with our facilitators are looking forward to your presence and participation.
