Lysanne Charles is an Artist, Activist and Academic focused on working for, with and in marginalized topics, groups and spaces.

She is a PhD candidate in Political Anthropology with Island(er)s at the Helm examining the intersections of coloniality, policy development and community engagement.

Author of a book of poetry and short stories titled "Her(e)", co-author of a children's book with her niece Tianna Thode called "Janella and the Genie's Goggles" and the editor of 2 memoirs of her beloved grandmother Carmen Simmons "The Life of Carmen Simmons" and "A Life of Service".

A board member of OutRight International, outgoing Chair of ECADE and founder and support person for SAFE SXM. She believe in bridge building across differences and allyship, because Audre Lorde said "There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives."
