| Bookstart St. Maarten
campaign a success On Monday April 20th more than 30 parents and their children attended a workshop on ‘How to read to your child’. The workshop, a joint initiative of Philipsburg Jubilee Library and SIFMA, was presented by remedial teacher and expert on children and reading Patricia Maier. Maier outlined different techniques on how to read to young children. While Garfield Young, better known as Papa Umpo, demonstrated the power of storytelling. Movies continued to play during the Bookstart St. Maarten campaign up until Friday evening. On Thursday April 23rd it was time for a special reading lunch. In the library 20 children had lunch while listening to the story read by storyteller Gini van Duivenvoorde. At the daycare centers 133 children simultaneously enjoyed reading lunches at their own premises. In the coming months all babies and toddlers who become library members will receive a special gift bag. Parents are urged to register their baby or toddler at the library as soon as possible since the amount of gift bags is limited! To read more about the goal and
