Donations: library gets GEBE fact book chronicling company’s growth
PHILIPSBURG--Managing Director of Utilities Company GEBE William Brooks gave representatives of the St. Maarten Historical Museum Foundation and the Philipsburg Jubilee Library a copy of the company’s book chronicling its development over a 45-year period. The book entitled GEBE through the Years was compiled to commemorate the company’s 45th anniversary.

GEBE through the Years documents the company’s development and also that of St. Maarten. It contains many old photos and facts that would make it an interesting read for young and old.

“As custodian of St. Maarten’s history, three copies were provided to the museum and three to the library, thereby allowing the general public especially students to have access for research projects,” Brooks was quoted as saying in a press release.

“GEBE plays an integral role where it concerns the national development of our island. The company has grown with the island and both depend on each other for success.”

Brooks said many people played an important role in the company’s development and members of the community should visit the library to borrow the book and read up on how GEBE and the island have moved forward together.
