Frank McCourt He quit school at the age of 13, went into a world of petty crime to feed his mother and three surviving brothers. He spent the war stationed in German and survived to pursue a college education on the G.I Bill. After graduating he went on to work for New York City Public School where he taught for the next 27 years. After years of teaching, McCourt determined to write his own life story. Angela’s Ashes which sold over 4 million copies, has been published in 27 countries and has been translated into 17 languages. McCourt won the National Book Critics Circle Award, Los Angeles Times Book Award, the Abby Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography. The Sequel Tis, shot to the top of the best-seller lists and so did Teacher man. Rest in Peace, from the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. |
