Fashion and Modeling Seminar a big success
Huge turn out for Fashions seminar at the library!

On Tuesday May 19th we held the second Fashion seminar. The first fashion seminar was organized in May 2008 within the context of the library’s cultural awareness program. Similar as during the 2008 seminar the library hall was was packed again with more than 90 fashion enthusiasts of all ages. The 2009 seminar was hosted by London based model instructor Francis Mathew and organized in close cooperation with our library. For this special occasion the hall of the library was transformed into a real runway.  Educational speeches were held by Dorothy Radjouki, Mrs. Rhonda Smith from the carnival committee, Esther Halley and Morena Ignacio. A fashion show of designs by Kaisha Peters of Kai Designs was the next item on the program.

After this exciting show, Francis Mathews brought the house down by demonstrating how it’s really done on the international runway. He demonstrated to the public how to walk, sit, pose for the cameras and most importantly the do and don’ts.

The seminar culminated in the handing out of three awards. The award for the most fashionable politician went to commissioner Sarah Wescott Williams and the award for the most outstanding fashion store was won by T’s closet. Three young girls between the ages of 5 and 8 years old competed for the Mrs. Future Face St Maarten award. The award went too little Tiffany Mou Annicette!

The seminar participants went home satisfied and enriched with more knowledge of the fashion industry. There will be most certainly a third fashion seminar in 2010.
