Summer Program 2008: successful Summer Program @ the library
During the summer holidays the Philipsburg Jubilee Library organized a reading program for primary school students age 4 to 16 who voted for Books. The intention of this program was to show that reading is fun, books let you travel in other people's minds and worlds, and they can make you laugh and cry, and be so spellbinding that you just can't stop reading. The participants had to read five books from a selection of books on display, and answer some questions about each book, so that we could check if the participant had indeed read the book. Over 100 children participated. The participants voted for their favorite Books & Movie.

The favorite books where: Swop, Rent a friend, Letter to pearl, Check it out, Cory in the house-Top secret, Party girls and Eclipse.

Favorite movies where: Finding Nemo, The incredibles, Ice age and Garfield the Movie.

The winners were: Shakirah Cornett, Sharma Rahul, Edourd Jasmine and Matteï Kerkhoff. The children, who finished the program, received a small gift.

On Friday 1^st of August 2008, the library staff organized a party to close of the summer program which consist of story telling, movie (Nancy Drew ) and dancing. This was a very successful evening with a lot of fun.
