enchanting evening with
Cynthia McLeod at the library
Tuesday, May 13, more than 80 persons showed up for at the
library for an enchanting evening with Surinamese writer and historian Cynthia
McLeod, organized by the Philipsburg Jubilee Library and the Ark
foundation. Mrs. Cynthia held the audience captive with her intriguing and
often humoristic anecdotes from different periods in Suriname’s history.
Cynthia McLeod’s most popular book 'Hoe duur was de suiker?’ was recently
translated into English under the title ‘The cost of sugar’. This book as well
as Mrs. McLeod’s other works like
'Tweemaal Mariënburg', '.. die revolutie niet inbegrepen' and 'De vrije
negerin Elisabeth Gevangene van kleur' are available at your library. Come and
have a look at the small Cynthia McLeod exhibition in the library.
