Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 the “Readers are Leaders” Club will be presenting a cultural evening to celebrate Black History Month in song, poetry, and dance at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library’s lobby at 5:30 pm.
As part of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library’s (PJL) Black History Month activities, Dwight Barran and Ans Koolen will be discussing the archives of Profiles of the Windward Islands on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:30pm.
Morenika Arrindell, Activity Manager of the Library, said that the archive is about 30 years old and contains rare footage of St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba.
The Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL) honors staffer, Irmin Hughes-Richards for her 35 years of dedicated service to the people of St. Maarten.

Come and celebrate Black History Month with the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, during the entire month of February, as we highlight the achievements of St. Maarten’s elders and younger generations, in painting, dance and literature, under the theme “ Grafting Roots: Passing on the Legacy”.
The Philipsburg Jubilee Library offers Story Time every last Saturday of the month, and specially for Babies and Toddlers Story Time every 2nd Thursday of the month. The program consists of storytelling, singing, related activities as crafting and games. Occasionally there are also puppet shows, performers and other special activities.
